
Reimagining seamless
airport security.
Overview
SCADpro is a collaborative design studio between current students and business leaders to solve real-world brand,
product, marketing, and design needs.
For this project, Deloitte partnered with SCAD to reimagine a more seamless airport security experience. Over the course of 10 weeks, our diverse cohort of 16 students from majors including UX Design, Service Design, Design Management, Industrial Design, and Photography, collaborated together to research and understand the current airport security experience and brainstorm concepts on elevating this experience for all stakeholders involved.
This project's assets are currently under an NDA. This case study focuses on our process, my role as a researcher and visual design lead, and the lessons learned.

Being a visual leader
SCADpro was the best opportunity for me to lead the phase of developing the visual assets for our final deliverables. My primary role was to facilitate collaboration among the design team, manage communication, and ensure the project’s success while fostering individual team growth.
Throughout the project stages, I worked on building visual narratives to help during our client check-ins and presentations, support with synthesizing the collected data using certain design frameworks, and create strategies for implementation.

Project objective
Design and develop proof of concept (POC) that demonstrates an innovative way to provide a more
seamless passenger experience that ultimately increases security, decrease wait times and improves the overall
customer satisfaction.
Discover
the problem.
Develop an understanding of the problem, what solutions exist today, and what drives seamless security experiences.
Describe
the future.
Define the North Star Vision for the problem after evaluating the data collected through all the extensive research.
Design
the idea.
Proceed to ideate, generate concepts, and assess value against the target customers / stakeholders and prioritize.
Develop
a PoC.
Build a POC based on the insights generated, conduct A/B testing of prototypes with users, and iterate.
Presenting the vision
Presenting our final work to Deloitte was both intense and incredibly fulfilling. After regularly leading design discussions, staying in sync with my team, stepping up as a supporter, and putting in lots of SCADamp (professional client presentation delivery) practice, I felt confident and excited to share all the success of 10-weeks of intense hard work.
The best part? Watching our clients’ faces light up as we brought our ideas to life.
